Comforting Embrace

Air Force Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt, of the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group at Balad, Iraq, cradles a young girl as they both sleep in the hospital. The girl’s entire family was executed by insurgents; the killers shot her in the head as well. The girl received treatment at the US military hospital in Balad, but cries and moans often. According to the nurses at the facility, Gebhardt is the only one who can calm down the girl, so he has spent the last several nights holding her while they both sleep in a chair.

Why isn’t this all over the news? If he’d done something wrong … then it would be!

Regardless of personal beliefs, every American should be proud of our soldiers and the sacrifice they make on a daily basis. It's not about what you believe or don't believe, it's about support, pride and the very freedom in which you bask, at their sacrifice. Why has the media not picked up this clue???? We know our world is inundated with misery and yet the media continues to force that reminder on us all on a daily basis. Why not remind us that there is still good in this world? That hearts are still tender, and compassion great? Where is the media at these moments? Do they believe that we are such a sadistic country that suffering and hatefulness and uglyness are all we long for? We need more reminders of the good and right and beautiful! Take a clue media....
